About Us

Who we are, what we believe, and the community we build together in faith.

Our Church

Our "physical church" is located in a prison in New York and in the territory of the Archdiocese of New York. Our services are usually held in a multipurpose room located in the institution's chapel. This means that the room must be set up and broken down before and after every service and event. This multi-purpose room is used by all religious faiths and other secular events held by in the institution.

Despite these humble circumstances, our faith remains strong and our community continues to grow in the grace of God.

Our Members

We are incarcerated men who are trying to correct our previous behavior by acknowledging the wrongs that we have committed and through our faith as Catholics want to learn how to be the most effective and prosperous citizens to our fellow man.

Our community numbers about 150 registered Catholics and come from all parts of the American Continent. There are some from different parts of the U.S. and immigrants from Central and South America. Some of these immigrants will be deported upon their release. Most all of our members will be released back into the community.

What We Believe

The Nicene Creed with Profession of Catholic Christianity

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

We believe that the Catholic Church is the Church in which the fullness of God's revelation through his Son, Jesus Christ, abides.

We believe that her college of bishops, with the pope, the bishop of Rome, presiding at its center, continues to exercise in the world the authority for teaching and moral guidance given by Jesus Christ to his apostles for the salvation of all.

We further believe in seven sacraments, signs of worship through which the grace of the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ is communicated. They are: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony.

We promise, through prayer, participation in Church life and worship, and continued efforts to understand the tenets of our faith, to form our conscience in such a way as to live according to the doctrines and practices which the Catholic Church prescribes for the individual and common good of her faithful.
